Greetings from Brooklyn
I'm sorry for the blogging hiatus. Certain things just have to take precedence over the blog. Curtains, for instance. Now that they're up ("the neighbors must be relieved," says my brother), I can return to the blog.
Here are some observations from my short time in New York, in classic html bullet list format...
- It's much sunnier in New York. In Pittsburgh during the winter, we're lucky to see 1 sunny day per week. In New York so far, we've gotten 5 sunny days per week. I've had to learn how to wear sunglasses with my wool hat.
- Yes, apartments are as small and as expensive here as all the rumors claim. However, it seems they're generally kept in much better condition, if you don't mind the occasional toilet-in-the-kitchen floor plan.
- Brooklyn is the new Manhattan. Manhattan is the new Disneyworld. Queens is still Queens.
- Movers are really amazing at what they do. A couch that took us an hour to move into my old apartment was taken out in seconds. South Hills totally came through for us.
- Don't make eye contact on the subway. Unless you want a new friend, that is.
